Alrc internship program
In —14, 16 internships were offered to local students and the ALRC was pleased to include students of an exceptionally high standard from around Australia. All our interns provided an excellent standard of work across the ALRC inquiries.
They were involved in a range of ALRC activities, including attending consultation meetings with inquiry stakeholders, Advisory Committee meetings and inquiry team meetings.
The ALRC captures the intern experience through interviews with students at the completion of their internship. In —11 there were 16 internships offered. The ALRC was pleased to include students of an exceptionally high standard from around Australia and abroad. Two applicants from overseas universities received placements. In September Kate Nielson joined us from Harvard University as part of the Clinical Placement Program and we have been extremely lucky to have Kate with us for a month placement, contributing to the Family Violence Inquiry, Commonwealth Laws and Family Violence and Classification Inquiries at a very high level.

Guest speakers We organise guest lectures through professional development training programmes, so you can discover new career opportunities, learn from a range of legal experts and graduate recruiters, and pick up top tips about how to succeed in the recruitment process.
Professional Panels We invite leading law professionals to careers panel. You have opportunity to ask questions and gain a deeper insight into how to succeed. These initiatives heighten your understanding of how to succeed and bring you into contact with high achieving professionals. We have numerous prizes which are awarded for academic achievement. Prizes include monetary awards, rewards, placements with law firms, or vouchers.
Having an academic prize on your CV demonstrates high level academic talents and any associated placement can be used to develop new skills in the workplace. Students who wish to obtain commercial awareness and practical experience will benefit from undertaking a work placement. You develop skills and experience in the workplace to complement the knowledge acquired from your programme.
